A Peaberry

A peaberry, referred to as caracolillo in Spanish, is a type of coffee bean. While the usual coffee fruit ('cherry') typically contains two seeds ("beans") that grow with flattened facing sides, there are instances where only one of the two seeds is fertilized, resulting in a single seed that develops without being flattened. This oval-shaped (or pea-shaped) bean is known as a peaberry. Approximately 5% of all harvested coffee beans exhibit this characteristic. Alternatively, normal coffee beans are less commonly referred to as flat berries.
