It All Began in Medan — November 7, 2024

Seven Sumatra Beans was born in the heart of Medan — a city deeply connected to the land and heritage of Sumatra coffee. From day one, our mission has been clear: to showcase the beauty and complexity of Indonesian specialty coffee, starting with the rich volcanic soils of Sumatra. Our first roastery and café opened its doors on 7 November 2024, bringing together passionate baristas, local farmers, and coffee lovers under one roof. It became more than a café — it became a place where conversations brewed as deeply as our coffee. Here, we celebrated every step of the journey: from the farmer’s hard work in Gayo, Mandheling, and Lintong, to the careful roast profiles that reveal each bean’s unique character.

Expanding the Sumatra Legacy — Jakarta, November 7, 2025

Exactly one year later, on 7 November 2025, we brought that same spirit and story to the capital — Jakarta. Our expansion to Tanjung Duren, Jakarta Barat, marks a new chapter in connecting Indonesia’s coffee origins with its modern urban coffee culture. What began as a humble roastery in Medan has now grown into a symbol of Sumatra’s coffee excellence in the capital city. From the first roast in Medan to our new home in Jakarta, every cup we serve tells the same story — of dedication, of authenticity, and of the deep roots of Sumatra coffee.

Here, we roast, brew, and share the same Sumatra beans that started it all, but now closer to coffee lovers in the city.
